I came across these quotations while researching Mary Parker Follett for a hub talk in our village.
Mary was an American management consultant, social worker, philosopher and pioneer in the field of organisational theory and behaviour. Writing and speaking an incredible 100 years ago, her ideas are as relevant (and needed) today as they ever were – perhaps even more so.
Rejected and forgotten after her death – possibly because she was so far ahead of her time – she was subsequently rediscovered and today her principles form the basis of recognised best practice in quality management, teamworking, creative problem-solving, conflict resolution and agile leadership.
Peter Drucker called her “Prophet of Management” and named her as his guru, making Mary Parker Follett the gurus’ guru’s guru!
Do those quotations resonate with you?
How do they apply to your organisation today?
